"$200 billion that instead of going towards Medicare, will be going in the pockets of private insurance executives."
That's just silly. Insurance is a competitive business, and competition drives price to cost. The money will show up mostly as lower premiums, negotiated mostly by the hated corporations that pay for most of the insurance.
You can also pretty much bet that the Dems' bill will require lower premiums for Obamacare insureds as a price of the subsidies. The main problem with Obamacare was the decision to achieve actuarial balance by using a mandate instead of subsidies and, to the extent needed, a general tax hike. As Justice Roberts said, a mandate is a tax, and, as it turns out, a regressive one. Biden's approach is to use a progressive tax instead of a regressive one. That's progress, and it's progressive, even if it isn't socialist.
