"A personal attack is where you attack a person’s opinions based NOT on their opinions but on their attributes."

That's not how I or most native English speakers use that term. To says someone would own slaves if they could is a personal attack.

There's nothing wrong with personal attacks per se. Some are completely warranted. To say Adolph Hitler was an anti-Semite is a personal attack. I'm not saying the attack on Hollis is unwarranted; I am saying it is unhelpful rhetorically in the context of the article. If she focused more on her agenda and less on her anger she'd be a more effective advocate. Preaching to the converted does not save souls.
