On what planet do you live where it is rational that one side unilaterally changes rules in their favor while they are in power and then claims the other side is hypocritical for not changing the rules back once they are in power?

A planet where a bad idea is a bad idea, not an excuse for being an asshole. The Democrats didn't change the filibuster rule for SCOTUS. Mitch did that, all by himself.

Instead of playing “whatabout?” how about defending Mitch’s refusal to confirm so many Obama appointments? The GOP didn’t use the filibuster to extract compromise; it used it to gum up the works. Harry Reid was wrong to do what he did. Rather than eliminate the filibuster, he should have raised the practical and political cost of mounting one. But procedural tit for tat is how a government built on comity collapses. We need the filibuster. But we need it in a form that exacts a price.
