After an abundance of research, I discovered that many women and especially non-binary and transgender individuals feel ignored and suppressed by the use of this word.

If the rest of us can get over having to use "their" when we mean "his," "her," or "his or her," then maybe the non-male can get used to "guys" being genderless.

I suggest watching a major tennis match on TV. EVERY winner thanks "you guys" in the crowd, because it is the only convenient way to address the fans directly. The word is losing its gender, and it is as conservative and stodgy for the professionally aggrieved to insist it be treated as masculine as it is for grammar Nazis to demand that plural third-person pronouns be routinely treated as singular.
