Apparently, Maher thinks that all black people respect any black celebrity simply because that celebrity is black.

Maybe he thinks a significant number of black people respect some black celebrities because they are black people who have succeeded. There is no "apparently" there, just a straw man easier to argue with than the actual Maher.

Try arguing honestly. You'd be amazed at how many more serious people would take you seriously. Unless, of course, that isn't important to you.
