Times are changing, and if a politician isn’t willing or able to show they’re evolving with it, then they need to be cast aside.

Because who care whether Trump is re-elected. Biden stands for the one thing this country needs right now more than anything else: regular order in Congress. Newt and Mitch destroyed the Congress that Biden is now taking so much heat for loving. That was the Senate with all those Dixiecrats Joe got on so well with. You know, the one without the purists on the Left and Right who have earned the 19% rating that elected Trump.

The country’s got lots of problems, and Biden is not the man to solve them all. But right now, the thing most broken is Congress, and the thing he will be best at fixing is Congress. If you prefer the flash of AOC to the legislative skills of the man she replaced, pat yourself on the back — you’re woke as shit. But don’t be surprised by four more years of the Orange Menace.

Biden represents something no other candidate except Sanders can remember: a Congress with a 40% approval rating. That’s a disappointing number, but it’s apparently all our system is capable of producing without airplanes crashing into office towers. Sanders isn’t smart enough to realize that restoring respect for Congress is urgent than soaking the rich. Urgency and importance are not the same thing. Right now, getting rid of Trump is the most urgent problem, and fixing Congress is second. With a working Congress and a thinking President, we can tackle the substantive issues before us. But first, we need to put our House (and Senate) in order.
