COVID-19 Mutates to GOPID-20
I watched Fox and Friends this morning (Saturday). I check in with those clowns periodically because it is not possible to remember the stupid things they say or to predict what nonsense they will spout. Bad arguments don’t resemble any other logical chains in our minds. Like Tolstoy’s unhappy families, each is unique. So we have to go back and remind ourselves that people can really be as foolish as the F&F crew.
In today’s installment, one of the male anchors — I don’t know their names and would forget them if I learned them, as they are useless — was saying that we don’t know how any of the GOP bigwigs who have tested positive for COVID-19 acquired the disease. We can’t be sure it was at a Trump rally or Judge Barrett’s announcement or debate prep. All we know, the man said, is that this is a very infectious disease. Not so infectious as to make it moronic to hold rallies, ceremonies and meetings where people mingle without masks — that would be a bridge too far for this guy’s mental machinery — but infectious enough that we can’t blame any particular careless whisper for any particular person’s infection. Sort of like one gun in a firing squad shooting blanks so that no one member can be sure that he killed the target.
