Democracy is not all that important to most people. The haves don't need democracy, and the have-nots believe they are ill-served by it. Who does that leave to give a crap?

Considering the generic mid-term headwinds and the specific condition of the economy, which our moronic electorate always blames on the incumbent president because no one else is available to punish, the Dems did pretty well, and the never-Trump vote - i.e., the people who care about democracy - must have made a difference. Thus, the question is not how many people don't care about democracy, but whether enough people - even if a minority - do care about it.
