Did Shaun get away with it? You know he's a cheat. Everyone you tell knows he's a cheat. His circle of friends is limited to morons who don't know he's a cheat or assholes who don't care he's a cheat. He undoubtedly knows he's a cheat and lives with the low self-esteem that drives him to be a cheat. Is "getting away with it"?

Trump is loathed by every decent American with a working brain. His supporters are deplorable or benighted. He is shunned by the "real" NYC real estate community. No one likes him. All he has is money and the adulation of fools. AND HE KNOWS IT. Is that "getting away with it?" I can't say whether virtue is its own reward, but being Donald Trump must be its own punishment. Would you want to be him? I wouldn't, so I don't think he's getting away with anything.

OTOH, simply as a political matter, I believe he should be impeached, removed from office and, most important, disqualified from running again. Failing that, Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell should make clear that if he so much as hints that he will run again, impeachment proceedings will begin, even if he is out of office. (There is no requirement that a person be in office to be impeached.) If that threat never sees the light of day, and Trump pretends that he has some other reason not to run - like the election would be stolen anyway - would that be "getting away with it"?
