Hasn't the debate been had? The arguments you make rightly describe the arguments that not only can be made but have been made. People have been exposed to the other side, and they have rejected it.

I take a longer view of the issue. Before the Vietnam war, men were drafted to protect women and children, and women were drafted to protect fetuses. Then Vietnam happened, Congress ended the military draft, and SCOTUS ended the maternal draft. SCOTUS has now reversed itself, and at least some voices in government want to bring back the draft. Men subject to a draft have little sympathy for "It's my body." arguments. Take away the draft though, and fairness dictates that abortion be legal.
