I agree. I'm not suggesting that Israel "be nice," just that Hamas may have wanted to provoke for PR purposes exactly the kind of arguably indiscriminate killing in which the IDF is engaged. When West Bank settlers "prove" that Israelis are blood-thirsty thugs, it's easy to infer that the IDF is no better.

It all starts with the problem of Israel's origins. If the world hadn't appointed the Jews as designated scapegoat, we wouldn't need a place of our own, a place that must by its purpose be a nation-state and, therefore, must also have been obsolete and unstable from Day 1.

Lawyers say that bad cases make bad law. Antisemitism is a bad case; maybe Israel is bad law.
