Incredibly, $15,084 a year is close to the federal individual poverty guideline of $12,490 a year. Thus, many Americans are living close to poverty.

I agree that there’s a case for the UBI. But bullshit statistical manipulation like this doesn’t help. The “poverty level” is not a per capita measure that applies to children in a family. It applies to a single adult living alone. So to say that a child in a family of four with a family income is “living close to poverty” is beyond explanation. I cannot understand how anyone could be so stupid or so dishonest as to say such a thing and expect to be taken seriously. So I stopped reading.
