I find the announcement innocuous. (I'm Jewish.)

Some people get their ethical marching orders from the Christian Bible. One contestant on "Dancing With the Stars" was made uncomfortable by the sexy dances because "I'm a Christian," so only her husband could touch her that way.

Some Christians downplay their acts of altruism by suggesting that religious obligation, rather than personal virtue, accounts for an act of kindness. (Sings Mme. Threnardier: “Not that we begrudged a sou; It's no more than we Christians must do!”) I rarely hear superiority in the claim, and if I do, I just chalk it up to irony. (Pride, right? Not a good thing.)

But, then, I don't believe in microaggressions. Microtrauma, maybe, but if it isn't intended to harm, it's not an aggression. The word exists to imply animus in its absence. It's a dishonest word. A Christian would never use it, as it bears false witness.
