Whether he has a real or impugned wandering hands problem, all he needs to do is bring his own chaperone along.

I saw Mr. Foster interviewed on Smerconish’s program on CNN. He was asked that question and responded, in effect, that he has a small staff who need to be doing something else. But really, what good is a witness for the defense who works for the defense? There were other men in the room when Bret Kavanaugh allegedly misbehaved. Or must he bring a woman? Oh, right, some of the #metoo guys had women “procurers.”

The problem of men and women being alone in any professional setting is not going to go away. It makes people uncomfortable. Maybe Mr. Foster should install a camera and recorder in his truck.

Sometimes the whole thing gets ridiculous. I know a urologist who has a female physician’s assistant. When she does rectal exams on men, she brings another female into the room to act as chaperone. Exactly what benefit that provides the male patient isn’t clear to me.

Many women are running for office now. Perhaps the paper can assign female reporters to them and males to men. Or not use “shadowing” as a reporting technique where the shadowing itself might be distorted by sexual tension. (Check out Netflix’s series “Bodyguard” on that score.)
