I believe that people who think as Ms. Wong thinks are destroying the fabric of society one non-nuclear family at a time. It’s “just an opinion,” but Medium is a place for expressing opinions. The ideas underpinning her question strike me as dangerous; it would be irresponsible of me not to call them out as such.

The synergies of community depend on adults forming stronger bonds than the one Ms. Wong describes. Commitment has positive externalities. Feminism has weakened communities just by encouraging the glue (moms) to go to work. With homemaking dead, household-formation is next. The alarm is sounding, but Ms. Wong’s generation is too woke to wake up.
