If the Republicans capture the House in 2022, then whoever is Speaker will speak in Trump's voice, so it hardly matters whether Trump gets the title.

I do have a favor to ask of writers like Ms. White. If a public figure's politics aren't more or less like George Will's or Bill Kristol's, please don't use the unadorned word "conservative" to describe them. They may be self-styled "conservatives," but the only thing they want to conserve is White supremacy. Likewise, there is no longer anything Grand or Old about the Republican Party. The name's the same, but the party is just a mob that exists only because social media make it possible. I have removed "GOP" from my written vocabulary, and I urge others to do the same.
