I'm not big on "whatabout," but how many reporters has the IDF beheaded on TV? What truth are you trying to get out? That Israel bombed that hospital? In war, the truth is the first casualty. Blocking lies is a sound military strategy; any truth that gets blocked is collateral damage. Like human shields dying.
Israelis are no angels, but the Palestinians have had 75 years to figure out how to adapt to the modern world, and they have simply failed to do it. They are medieval thinkers, and they are being treated like the threat they are.
Remember, Hamas was elected. At some point, the people ruled by thugs own what the thugs do. That is the nature of the world. Isn't that Hamas's justification for slaughtering Israelis? Why doesn't that logic go both ways? Did the Palestinian fighters encounter any "innocent civilians"?
The Palestinian Arabs were screwed over in 1948. Native Americans were screwed over in the nineteenth century. The creation of Pakistan was a mess. The Normans invaded England. The Visigoths sacked Rome. The Egyptians enslaved the Hebrews. Biden beat Trump. At some point, the losers have to admit defeat and go about rebuilding.
Imagine an alternative history where the Palestinians ask for a Marshall Plan rather than an endless war. Israel and the West would have done plenty to ease the suffering of the displaced Palestinians if Israel's security had actually been on offer. But that is not how the Palestinians and their Islamist sponsors have behaved. Why aren't the wealthy Muslim states trying to create prosperity in Gaza? Surely, the wherewithal exists. Israel would be no obstacle if groups like Hamas and Hezbollah were not committed to its destruction.
Israel is fighting dirty, but it is fighting for its survival. Peace has always been available. All it would have required is for Israel's neighbors to accept the fact of Israel's permanence. ("Right to exist" is too loaded; acceptance of facts on the ground is all that matters.)
Now suppose Hamas "wins" and Israel just goes away. What has it won for the Palestinians who lived and died in the seventy-five years since Israel's creation? What will the land become? An Islamist State? Whoopee! Do Gazans really want that life? And, if they do, should the West care if they are neutralized as a force for medievalism?
The West must stop the Islamist crusaders by any means necessary. Squelching the news of how the sausage is made is just how war works. There's nothing really remarkable about it.
