I'm OK with mythologizing Cincinnatus Biden in the history books, but not yet. Biden was always going to be a one-term president, and he should have behaved accordingly. From Day 1, Harris should have been much more clearly an heir apparent getting serious OJT for the 2024 campaign. She could have participated more publicly in the administration's achievements, and she should have been subject to challenges, if any there were, during the primary season. All of that was lost because Joe Biden was pig-headed and hubristic.

Maybe Joe and his brain trust decided that Kamala was, indeed, a DEI (formerly known as "affirmative action") hire made to get Jim Clyburn's endorsement but not able to win an election. Standing alone, that is not an unreasonable tactical take. But it discounts Biden's frailty. The party logic, post Clyburn, has been to run the less weak candidate as between Biden and Harris. The debate revealed that Harris was that candidate. The the rest is current events.

Harris is not a good candidate, but she should beat Trump, and she may be a decent President. Hopefully, she will pick a straight, White, Christian man as her running mate to reassure straight, White, Christians that they are not about to become second-class citizens (whether or not they deserve it on some karmic level). I wish someone else were running in her place, but I sure as hell hope Biden's dithering has not kept her from winning.

MAGA delenda est.
