In my original comment, I did not advocate violence; I predicted it and wondered how one should deal with its high probability. My point is that violence is the elephant in the room, and no one seems to want to acknowledge its presence, even as it plays out in the breadbasket of Europe as we speculate about other "solutions." .
The Europeans who killed their way to their manifest destiny have no problem with our having gotten "here in the first place." The outcome of most wars of conquest has been quite satisfactory to the conquerors, so you really can't say that a "different outcome" is the object of the game.
You don't have to "accept" the real world to recognize that you live in it. If you have to choose between your children being bad winners or good losers, what do you do?
