Is it right for future generations to be born with a burden? The burden of the debt created by their grandparents?

Would you rather your parents left you bare ground or a house subject to a mortgage you can afford to pay? The United States is an asset of those who share in its civilization. The asset comes with a mortgage. One can argue whether the deal is fair in its particulars, but the general idea of the present repaying the legatees of the past for things the present gets to use is not ipso facto problematic. (The estate tax cancels the debt of the present to the past. Maybe it should be higher, but, again, that's just a matter of degree.)
