The article is essentially political, so the politics of the author are of interest. I find the seriousness accorded pronouns revelatory. To the extent that I am an outlier in that respect, it makes sense that I be the one to raise the point. How that obligates me to comment on every other aspect of the piece lest I be seen as not grasping them isn’t clear to me.
