Lawyers respond to the Ship of Theseus the way they respond to all definitional questions: "Why do you ask?" Is it the "same" ship? Who cares? Is it Theseus' ship? Now, there's a question worth asking, because Theseus' right to treat it as his depends on that. But no one doubts that this ship is still Theseus' ship. So there's no paradox. Indeed, the whole paradox depends on there being no reason to ask the question. So, if there's no reason to ask a question, is it still a question? (Answer: Why do you ask?)
