Let’s not over-analyze. If the 2016 election taught us anything, it’s the power of the asshole/moron coalition. Social media have enabled the former to rouse the latter. Both groups have always been with us; it’s just gotten easier for them to find each other. Cancel culture is the left’s version of it.
