Making SECRET voting easier is a good thing. Making voting easier by distributing mail-in ballots invites voter intimidation. It didn't happen in 2020, but there wasn't enough time to get the corruption organized, so no inferences can be drawn from its absence. Give it time.
The secret ballot is still important, and the special rules adopted to deal with the pandemic threaten the secret ballot. I am a Never Trumper, but I am also a closet logician, which means I know that not everything bad people propose is ipso facto bad. Universal mail-in voting is a bad idea, no matter whose idea it is, because, given enough time (which it was not given in 2020), it enables voter intimidation.
