Maybe the capture of CO2 in the creation of fossil fuels made our planet livable, which is why the release of that C02 by burning fossil fuels will make it unlivable.
There is this stuff called eFuel, which is made by using electricity from renewable sources to convert water and CO2 into hydrocarbon fuel. Rather than recapturing CO2 at the source, the e-fuel thing just pulls it from the air, in effect recycling the CO2 rather than just storing it. There are lots of projects, but it's not yet a "thing," and I have no idea if it will be.
