Never. Convince voters to move left; the candidate will follow. Persuade people to your right. Win them over. Explain why your ideas are better than the ideas of those they favor now. Demanding candidates who are ideologically strong but electorally weak is narcissism. DO THE WORK. MAKE THE CASE.
