But isn't Sotomayor's point that you don't get to draw that distinction? Some organized religions, whose doctrine is well publicized, take Ms. Smith's view. You can't weasel out of the hypothetical by suggesting that she does not understand her own church. Rather, you are turning away her business because of what her religion in fact teaches. Now, I have no problem with your refusing to take on a politically charged case because you disagree with the party seeking your counsel. But it seems to me that you and Justice Sotomayor do. To put it another way, is a law practice a "public accommodation selling a commercial product" just because the Colorado statutes say it is?

I see no difference in your mural hypotheticals. I agree that you and Justice Sotomayor may see one. But that doesn't mean it's there.
