Now, they've gone the other way, with this separate comment sidebar that maybe allows hypertext and maybe allows editing and looks like the New York Times, which has the worst comment system ever. A comment can be published as a story, but then does it show up as a comment? We could experiment all day long, but it sure would be nice to have a "story" about the new approach. Maybe one exists. A link to it would be appreciated.
[Update: 8/18/20] I’ve come to like the new approach, which, unlike the NY Times, allows comments to be edited perpetually. I meditate over the philosophical problem of whether claps for a comment or story remain valid if the story is edited. I go back and fix typos all the time, but I don’t like to fiddle with substance because I feel I will have “made” someone clap for something I didn’t write. I could, of course, solve my problem by getting a life, but there’s this pandemic out there ….
