On cars, Henry Ford's target market did not have the option of buying a certified pre-owned Chevy. It sort of makes sense that the average Joe should not endure the first year's depreciation on a new car when there are so many good used cars available.

Generally, though, I think the sorry state of the American worker, which I attribute to globalization and its American sputniks like Reagan, is a festering sore that has a lot to do with the unhappiness that brought us Trump. That Hillary, the Democrat nominee, did not pursue the non-college white working vote seems to me not just political malpractice but also policy madness.
