there is still a strange stigma attached with this choice.

Onanism is a sin for a reason. The world needs babies, especially babies of people smart enough to rationalize not having them, i.e., people who are smart, but not too smart.

In the Bible story, Onan refuses to sire a child by his brother’s widow as required by law, and God punishes him with death. As with any Bible story, lots of interpretations present themselves. Mine is simple: a society that has no children dies.

Will you regret not having children? Beats me, and I don’t care. But no woman is an island. I and my children will regret your not having any. So, yeah, a stigma just might attach to the choice. Nothing strange about it, really.
