Palestinians are no more trying to turn history back than the Irish did. Conquest is not settled until the conquered submit.

Exactly. The only question is when to say "Uncle." My point is not that there is a universally correct response to conquest. I’m just saying that the Palestinians have made the wrong choice for them.

By "the West", you seem to omit countries like the United States where Jews have thrived and are currently the most-admired religious group.

Israel was founded in 1948. That's the "West" that matters. The USA of 1948 is not the USA of today. I'm a prosperous American Jew who has never been impacted by anti-Semitism here. But my parents and grandparents were. The USA did not open its arms to European Jews fleeing Hitler any more than it is opening them now to immigrants fleeing the dysfunction to our South. The US supported Israel for the same reason the Europeans did - it was far away.

Your concept of modernity suggests you really need to read more about the history of capitalism.

Your concept of capitalism suggests you really need to read more about the history of capitalism. Perhaps you can leave the snark in its box. I can pretend insults are arguments, too. But I choose not to.
