Polls show that 58% of voters support that amendment, so this attempt to raise the bar to 60% was a very blatant attempt to enable a minority to prevent the will of the majority.

But isn't that one of the things constitutions are designed to do? Doesn't the Bill of Rights mostly protect us from a tyranny of the majority? The saddest thing about the Ohio business is that the state has been so gerrymandered that the legislature is already "protecting" the anti-abortion minority from the pro-choice majority. But if the legislature is empowering the minority, the Constitution must protect the majority. It's all so ass-backwards, which makes some sense given that the Republicans are such ass-holes.
