"So long as Biden’s delusions of unity continue, none of it is going to get done."

None of what? The Covid bill was, as the Republicans say, a progressive wet dream come true. All of the negotiation took place within the caucus, and nothing was done to get Republican votes. The Republicans chose not to participate, and they got bull-dozed. Biden has been very clear. He's going to seek unity, and he may even be willing to compromise to get it, but in the absence of support from Republicans, he is not going to negotiate with himself.

Like the Covid bill, a large infrastructure bill will be wildly popular. Eight years of fire and ice have shown everyone how badly we need an upgrade, and infrastructure spending is the mother of all pork barrels. Lots of money will go to blue states and, especially, purple states; Republican senators from the latter will oppose at their peril.

Don't worry about the filibuster. It's not so easy to filibuster a bill that proposes to spend a ton of money in your state. Moreover, Joe Manchin has made clear his willingness to do away with the "virtual" filibuster. That alone should be enough to end it. Just as the threat of a filibuster has replaced the actual filibuster, the threat of reforming the filibuster will replace actually reforming it.

Between now and 2022, the Democrats WILL do popular things. The Republicans can either share the credit or not. If they do, they help Biden. If they don't, they hurt themselves. That's what happens when you have no good ideas of your own.
