"So walk us through how..."

I gave you the script thugs of any party can use to intimidate voters when every voter can get a mail-in ballot. What more do you need?

"Remember, only national elections are relevant to this discussion."

Either universal mail-in voting is a good idea, or it's a bad idea. I think it's a bad idea, and I said why. That the Feds can only control Federal elections is not relevant to the wisdom of their proposed rules.

You seem to think I have some sympathy for the Gang of Pissants formerly known as the Grand Old Party. I don't. It's easy enough to find my anti-Trump, Anti-Mitch, Anti-GOP articles. But liberals love short-term fixes that don't work, supported by stats that amount to "so far, so good" after a political nanosecond. It takes time to game the system. It didn't happen in 2020. So far, so good.

Just as voter suppression favors Republicans, unsecure easy access favors Democrats. Not because it is insecure, but because it is easy. Because it is easy, Democrats tend not to worry about the votes being insecure. You can't think of how Democrats could cheat because you don't want to know that they can cheat. But history shows that everybody cheats if they can. That's why the rules have to be aimed at stopping cheating.

We have not had universal mail-in voting long enough in enough places to draw any inference that it will not be exploited. It's easy to see how it can be exploited, and in politics, that suggests strongly that it will be exploited.
