“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
Technical debt maybe wasn’t what Jesus had in mind up there on the Mount, but, speaking of truths universally acknowledged, great writing excuses its own quotation out of context. I knew a lawyer once who explained his own expedient solutions with a simple “sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” It was like his tag line. It seemed to me then, as it does now, a tad insouciant. This article helps me to see it, like everything else, as a choice between opportunity costs.
Re: organizational debt. Are the parallels to the Republican Party and perhaps the entire US enterprise intentional?
