That there are those who seek to politicize a doll that has been a mainstay in the lives of little girls for more than half a century for political and other opportunistic purposes is nothing short of pathetic and perverse!

But isn't that what the movie does? Is a "feminist, left-of-center perspective" not politicization? I don't object to a movie making a political point. If I don't want to be badgered by a movie, I don't pay to see the movie. But if the converted want to pay to be preached to, that's their business.

OTOH, I don't see why a movie with a "feminist, left-of-center perspective" isn't fair game for criticism from not-so-feminist, not so left-of-center politicians. How can you say the movie makes an important point but people should refrain from criticizing it because it's just a movie about a doll?
