Now is the time for all good journalists to come to the aid of their country.

I sometimes listen to Dan Abrams on SiriusXM’s POTUS channel. Today (April 4, 2024), Dan was talking about why Joe Biden is doing poorly in national polls and what he needs to do to improve. In the course of the program, he said something like this: “I’m a political analyst. If Biden is trailing, I am saying what he needs to do to catch up. If Trump were trailing, I would be saying what he needs to do.”

No, no, no, no, no, no, NO. This is not a game. Trump is an existential threat to this country’s existence as a representative democracy. No one under any pretense of professional responsibility should in any way assist Trump to become dictator. If Trump were behind, Abrams should tell Biden how to put him farther behind. When callers to Abrams’ show say they are Trump supporters, he should ask “Do you not know that Trump is a Nazi, or do you not care that he’s a Nazi?”

To be sure, such a “one-sided” approach would stifle “debate.” Abrams would lose his Nazi listeners, and his program would become more of a Keith Olbermann rantathon. But that’s my point.
