The problem is that damn Section 230. If a platform is to be excused from a publisher's liability, it must allow everything to be published in the way anything can be sent through the mail, and the government should be able to punish certain messages in the way it can punish people who send certain messages through the mail.

Because section 230 allows platforms to moderate, it makes them into publishers without the responsibilities of publishers. That's an unstable situation. Either the law should be repealed or it should be amended to cover only platforms that do not moderate.
