The problem with CRT is that, logical or not, people think in ad hominem terms. One sees who is promoting CRT and immediately, and probably correctly, assumes that the purpose of teaching it is to change the status quo adversely to white people. Nothing about what CRT "really" is about or where it came from matters. Just the fact that people who want reparations and talk about white privilege are for it is enough for most white people to be wary of it. The bedizened pig is the right metaphor, but maybe it cuts the other way.

To read this article, one would think most American kids grow up thinking that slavery was a walk in the park. Yes, the idiots who want to talk about skills acquired by slaves are awful, but their efforts are noteworthy precisely because they are so out of step with the common knowledge, without CRT, that chattel slavery is wrong. So CRT must be about something else. It's that "something else" that has people worried.
