"They don’t consider, let alone mention, that white-on-white crime exists in nearly the same percentages."

Because that is a silly statistic to cite. You might a well compare US-on-US crime to NZ-on-NZ crime. You'll find the percentages about equal, which is great news, because it means that US-on-US crime is not a problem. The ratio of Black criminals to Black people vs. White criminals to White people MIGHT be a useful stat. But the fact that crimes are uniformly intra-racial says nothing.

Not that Whataboutism is ever a good argument. Systemic racism is real, and Black lives matter. But neither of those facts points to the most direct route to Black opportunity. Certainly, efforts should be made to reduce systemic racism, but the emergence of Blacks from their socioeconomic status requires a full-court press: fighting racism AND fighting hopelessness. More attention needs to be focused on what will work than on what is most karmic; it's time to elevate outcome over outrage.
