This is consistent with the "expulsions" last week. They weren't really expulsions, because everyone knew the two guys would be reappointed and re-elected. The "expulsions" were a message to the legislators' deplorable constituents that it's ok to be deplorable. This bill, which is clearly unconstitutional as applied to public officials, is another message to the, er, faithful. Whether it becomes a law requiring litigation to get rid of remains to be seen.
