Toxic wokeness invokes what I would call the reverse Niemoller effect:

When they defended the blacks, I was on board, because there are a lot of black people being discriminated against.

When they defended women, I was on board, because there are a lot of women being discriminated against.

When they defended gay people, I was on board, because there are a lot of gay people being discriminated against.

But when they defended trans people, I had to drive my kids to soccer practice.

As Ben points out, Social Justice Warriors are always looking for something to fix. The magic words in SJW world are "every last vestige." No one ever gets rid of every last vestige of anything, especially in the world of human behavior, where the cats get harder and harder to herd the more you demand of them.
