We have escaped the matrix so to speak. None of my sons has lived in one of those areas. I haven't in over 40 years. My barber and church are not in those areas. I have lived in 4 states and 5 or 6 cities. Which black community crime area do you want me to work on?

Me? I don't want you to do anything. I am offering my opinion that White people won't solve Black people's problems. What you do with that fun fact is entirely up to you. I believe your life is made harder by stereotypes extrapolated from "those neighborhoods." I am not saying all Black people are alike. I am saying that they are perceived to be alike by too many White people. So maybe it's in your interest, and your sons' interest, to do what you can to reduce the percentage of crimes committed by Black people.

The national news tonight had a major story about L.A. gangs committing "follow-home" robberies. Do you really not see the connection between those gangs robbing people and your sons being stopped for DWB? There is no logical connection, but the world is as the world is, and it's up to those with the most to gain from change to change it. I'm just saying that as between changing White cops' attitudes and Black criminals' behavior, Door #2 is the choice most likely to have a prize behind it.

You say community action is hard because Whitey has made it so. No argument here. But it's STILL the only game in town for many Black people. Escape is your prerogative. Did Amir Locke have that choice? Are you now blaming the victim for not getting out the way you did?

That is why I asked for an American solution not a black one.

I know why you asked for it; I'm just saying you will not get one. So then what? Shoot the messenger?
