Webster was not an economist. The essence of capitalism is risk, not reward. Decisions are made by those who will suffer most from failure, those who take the last dollar of revenue rather than the first. But I'm not sure a "true" definition of either capitalism or socialism is necessary to a Christian argument about the creation and distribution of wealth.
Meanwhile,, any Biblical discussion of economics should include the story of manna. The rules for sharing a windfall are different from those where wealth is produced. So maybe when assessing an economy, one should consider what environmental "windfalls" were necessary to the creation of the wealth.
