Were Dresden, Hiroshima, or Nagasaki genocides? Is Israel rounding up all Palestinians and shipping them off to be gassed? Killing civilians, even indiscriminately, may be a war crime, but it is not genocide absent the intention to eradicate a people. It’s not even clear that there is a “people” to eradicate. These Gazans are being killed because they are there, not because they are a category of humans against which one can commit genocide.
