What is being taught now is not critical race theory, it is American history — true American history, not the whitewashed version accepted and passed on as fact for generations.

The case for teaching "true" history to eight-year-olds remains to be made. At that age, race-based self-image matters. Teaching White kids that they are privileged oppressors and Black kids that they are victims entitled to reparations is bad for everyone. The message need not be explicit. If those inferences are drawn by young brains from learning "the truth," then the truth can wait until the frontal lobes are ready for it.

I agree with the tactical critique of the Dems' campaigns. Since Hillary's race, the party has pushed identitarianism over economics, despite Bill Clinton's mantra to the contrary. What about those union roots? The truth is that blue-collar unions have a history of racism and sexism. Should Democrats campaign on teaching that truth, too?
