What is so scary about “wokeness”?

As used by those who oppose it, which is the only definition that matters if you are going to rebut their claim, "wokeness" is essentially totalitarian and ad hominem; it makes avoiding some sort of affront more important than anything else that may need to be done, and it disqualifies good ideas from "bad" people. If we are talking about how to put out a fire, we cannot reject a solution because the person who offered it used the wrong pronoun about a non-binary person who might be in the building.

Our constitution is an important source of political unity. Wokeness says that its authors were mostly evil men. How is that good for the country? Something important surely happened in 1619, but our origin story runs from 1776 to 1789. Wokeness says otherwise. You really can't see a reason to be scared of that?

How are Democrats elitist? Most of their solutions assume endowments the average American does not enjoy. Egalitarians point to examples of extraordinary people doing extraordinary things, power couples with multiple degrees or unique skill sets, and say "See, if they can do it, you can do it." Only, it turns out you can't. Anyway, what is the relationship between Republicans purging voter rolls and the alleged elitism of the Dems? Voter suppression is evil, full stop. But it has nothing to do with elitism.

You quote Abbie Hoffman approvingly. How is the quotation different from Justice Alito's take? Doesn't Dobbs say, albeit not in haec verba, "If you want things to be how you wish, get off your ass and do some effin' politics"?
