"What policies does she disagree with?"

There's an interesting symmetry between Cheney's need to say she disagrees with Biden while defending her civility and Mr. Alexander's need to say he disagrees with Cheney's disagreeing with Biden while acknowledging her civility. Both feel obliged to pacify their rabid co-religionists.

But to answer the question, the problem with Biden's agenda is that it is self-defeating. He wants us to devote much more money to R&D, but he also wants to reduce substantially the incentives for funding it (preferential treatment of capital gains). He wants to bring people out of poverty by funding childcare. Who's going to DO that childcare if not illegal immigrants and poorly educated people of color? How is that supposed to promote "inclusivity"?

Liberals are short-sighted, and Biden is a liberal. I'm not worried about the budget. Good spending is always better than its opposite, but the devil is always in the details, and Biden's details are designed more to pander to his constituencies than to advance his agenda.

Whether these are Cheney's objections I can't say. I recognize her civility, but I have no reason to believe she has a clue about substance. Still, there's plenty about Biden's proposals not to like. Perhaps Mr. Alexander shouldn't have weakened his article by asking...
