Where does one find a discussion of a "minimalist" God, something even less involved than James Joyce's God, who sits back paring his fingernails and admiring his handiwork. Given for argument's sake that there must be a first cause, why does that cause have to be "intelligent" or "planful." Maybe the Big Klutz created energy by accident and, then, because over an infinite period of time, anything that can happen will happen, the universe happened?
I am not advocating this cosmogony, just wondering why the leap from causation to intention is so easily made in a universe where accidents appear to account for so much.
