While this particular element of the debate resonates with Black women, it comes across as special pleading in the context of a race for national office. Trump did far worse to Biden, whose "Won't you shut up, man?" was seen as indecorous by some and assertive by others. Do we really want a CIC who reacts to microaggressions? Isn’t that like being baited by a tweet?

Politicians interrupt each other. To say that Sen. Harris views such things through a race/gender lens is like saying that if she were President, the 25th Amendment would have to be invoked whenever Aunt Flo's in town, or worse, throughout "the change." What's worse - PMS or 'roid rage?

Sen. Harris's ethnicity and gender are self-evident. Those who are happy about them, either because those people are chauvinists or because they think it reflects well on our country, don't need to be reminded of them. And those who are put off by her not being a White man are best not reminded.

BTW, I disagree about Sen. Harris being "fierce" at the debate. I think she missed some big prosecutorial opportunities.
